Conversations between women with vulval lichen sclerosus: a thematic analysis of online forums

Abstract Background Vulval lichen sclerosus (VLS) is a common condition. Despite this, there paucity of research investigating the impact on women’s lives. Some women with VLS utilise online forums to discuss their priorities and concerns. This dialogue gives insight into experiences living VLS. Methods We identified most popular public containing discussions between Inductive, thematic analysis was applied 202 posts spanning six-year period. Results Five key themes were identified. Theme 1 pertained difficulties diagnosis. Women experience frequent delays misdiagnosis. They report health care professionals (HCPs) poor knowledge condition some that dismissive symptoms.
